Previous meetings and all-time record

The Patriots and Jaguars will meet for the first time since their trip across the pond in 2024, when Jacksonville handed New England a 32-16 loss at Wembley Stadium in London. This will also mark the Patriots’ first game in Jacksonville since 2018, when the Jaguars came away with a 31-20 victory on Sept. 16.

Despite that recent history, the overall series has been heavily tilted in New England’s favour. The Patriots are 12-3 all-time against Jacksonville, including an 8-2 regular-season record and a 4-1 mark in the postseason. New England is also 9-0 against the Jaguars in games played at home, while going 3-3 overall in Jacksonville, including a 3-2 regular-season record.

The teams have met five times in the playoffs, with two of those matchups coming in the AFC Championship Game. The Patriots defeated Jacksonville 20-6 in the 1996 AFC Championship Game at Foxboro Stadium, the first time New England hosted the conference title game. More recently, the Patriots rallied for a 24-20 victory over the Jaguars in the 2017 AFC Championship Game at Gillette Stadium on Jan. 21, 2018, punching their ticket to Super Bowl LII. Predictions and favourites

Jacksonville are the bookies' favourites today. I won't read too much into that because it's very tight and almost in the 'too-close-to-call' category. The Pats' offense has left a lot to be desired through 2 weeks of the NFL season; that needs to change if we want confidence in the team's ability to win consistently. The defense, especially with all the injuries, won't be able to hold teams to sub-15 points weekly. The offense has to show that it can put up 25+ consistently. It starts with Drake Maye. I want to see no silly turnovers and an all-around offensive performance. I'm predicting: Patriots 28, Jags 21. Go Pats!
