When and where
The Pats last away game of the 2025 regular season is a visit to the Meadowlands to play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. The "Road Warriors" have a chance to go the entire season undefeated away from home if they beat the Jets Sunday. The game kicks off at 1pm EST and you can watch it live on FOX/WFXT and listen on 98.5 FM The Sports Hub radio.
Previous meetings and all-time record
New England has played the Jets 133 times including three postseason meetings and controls a commanding 76-56-1 lead in the series. Most recently the Pats faced the Jets on Thursday Night Football, November 13th 2025, where the Patriots won convincingly 27-14. The last game at MetLife was the 19th of September 2024 where New York held the New England to 3 points in a 24-3 drubbing.
Who and what to look out for
New England have clinched their first playoff berth since the 2021 season, marking their 29th postseason appearance overall. Under Robert Kraft’s ownership since 1994, the franchise has reached the playoffs 23 times in 32 seasons, a sharp contrast to the six playoff berths earned in the team’s first 34 years. This season continues that trend of sustained success, with New England positioned among the league's most elite.
The Patriots enter this week with a chance to make history on the road. A win at the New York Jets would give them a perfect 8-0 road record in 2025, making them the only team this season without a road loss. The team has previously gone undefeated on the road in 2007 and 2016 and could become just the second franchise since 1970, alongside San Francisco, to accomplish the feat three times. A victory would also secure the Patriots’ 13th win of the season, their eighth 13-win campaign in team history, trailing only San Francisco in that category.
Against the Jets, New England will also look to complete its 24th season sweep of its division rival and first since 2022, having already won the first matchup 27-14. Offensively, the Pats rank fifth in the NFL with 47 touchdowns and could reach 50 for the season with three more scores, a milestone they have not achieved since 2021. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ recent 138-yard performance highlighted a passing attack that has now produced eight 100-yard receiving games this season, the most since 2016.
Head coach Mike Vrabel continues to add to his resume, having won his first seven road games with New England, a feat matched by only three other head coaches in NFL history. An eighth road win would place him behind only George Seifert for the longest such streak. Vrabel is also seeking his first 13-win season as a head coach, which would place him among a small group of coaches to reach that mark in their first year with a new team.
Quarterback Drake Maye has been at the center of the Patriots’ success. He leads the NFL with a 70.9 completion percentage, which would set a New England single-season record and rank among the best in league history. Maye is 53 passing yards shy of 4,000 for the season, a benchmark previously reached only by Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe in franchise history. He has also recorded 11 games with a passer rating of 100 or higher and could tie Brady’s team record with another such performance this week.
Defensively and on special teams, several players are nearing milestones. Linebacker Jack Gibbens is coming off his second 10-tackle game of the season and could post back-to-back double-digit tackle performances for the second time in his career. Safety Brenden Schooler needs one more special teams tackle to set a new career high, while tight end Hunter Henry needs just 12 receiving yards to establish a new single-season best. Collectively, these individual pursuits underscore a Patriots team that is excelling across all phases as it heads into the final week of the regular season.
The Patriots entered the weekend with seven players ruled out for their game against the New York Jets, including two not currently on the active roster. Wide receiver Mack Hollins, dealing with an abdominal injury, was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, while defensive tackle Milton Williams remains on IR despite returning to practice earlier in the week.
The remaining five players ruled out are among the team’s inactives for the game. Those include wide receiver Kayshon Boutte and offensive lineman Jared Wilson, both sidelined with concussions, along with defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga (foot), linebacker Harold Landry (knee), and linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle).
In addition to the injury-related absences, the Patriots will also be without two healthy scratches. Quarterback Tommy DeVito and linebacker Marcus Bryant, both third-stringers, were made inactive for the matchup in New York. A significant number of injuries and absences but the hope is a lot of these guys make it back for playoff football and the team will have enough to get by the Jets' test.
Predictions and favourites
The Pats are missing a substantial number of important pieces on both sides of the ball but I still can't see a path for the Jets to win this game. The Patriots are the bookies favourites and the vast majority of analysts and commentators are picking a comfortable New England win. Even, with the grocery list of injuries, the Pats win this game with relatively little fuss. Pats 35, Jest 20. Go Pats!
