New York Giants @ New England Patriots Prediction & Preview

When and where
The Pats are back at home at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Monday Night Football. The Pats will wear their red alternate jerseys for the second time this season, debuting them against Pittsburgh in September. The game kicks off at 8:15pm EST and you can watch it live on ESPN/WCVB and listen on 98.5 FM The Sports Hub radio.
Previous meeting and all-time record
A tie-breaker, if you will, because New England and New York have met each other 14 times total in regular-season and playoff encounters, with the series tied at 7 apiece. The Giants famously have bragging rights, winning both postseason meetings, one of them halting the Pats' seemingly unstoppable march to a perfect season in 2007. We have to go back to 2023 for the last time these two teams met, the Giants coming out on top 10-7 in a low-scoring affair on November 26th, 2023. The last game in Foxborough was a 35-14 Pats win back on October 10th, 2019.
Who/what to look out for
The Pats return to Monday Night Football, facing the 2-10 Giants, who are mathematically eliminated from this year's postseason but remain desperate for a win after a tough loss to the Lions and have suffered numerous injuries. New England’s struggling run game gets a golden opportunity against a Giants defense allowing 5.9 yards per carry—the worst in the league. The Patriots, with backup linemen on the left side, hope rookies TreVeyon Henderson and vet Rhamondre Stevenson can exploit New York’s tackling issues. Star receiver Stefon Diggs looks to rebound against a vulnerable Giants secondary. Protection for second-year QB Drake Maye is a concern, as Giants edge rusher Brian Burns poses a significant threat.
On the flip side, the Giants, energized by rookie QB Jaxson Dart, have been competitive lately, with close losses to playoff contenders. Dart’s playmaking and a solid ground game featuring Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary will test New England’s depleted defensive front. The Giants average 35 carries per game over the last three weeks and will likely attack the middle, where the Patriots are thin due to injuries. In the passing game, Dart’s aggressive style has elevated slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson and tight end Theo Johnson, both key targets. If the Pats can’t generate a pass rush, Dart’s mobility and the Giants’ tempo could cause problems. The matchup will hinge on whether the Patriots’ offense can finally establish the run and if their defense can contain Dart and the Giants’ multifaceted attack.
Predictions and favourites
I don't really care how the Pats win this one, just pick up the win and go to 11-2 with the BYE next week before facing two critical games against Buffalo and Baltimore. Other than getting the win, coming out of this game unscathed with no new injuries is the second highest priority. If both of those things happen, we'll be in great shape. This game isn't going to be easy, and I think a wounded Pats team still has enough to win but I don't think it will be a blowout, or a very high-scoring affair, for that matter. Patriots vs. Giants spread is Patriots -7.5 and the over/under 46.5 points. I'm picking New England to get the job done. Pats 27 Giants 24. Go Pats!
