Rob Gronkowski Believes Tom Brady is Serious About Playing in the Olympics

Tom Brady is set to play in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in Saudi Arabia in March 2026, a 5v5 round-robin tournament featuring NFL stars such as Jayden Daniels, Christian McCaffrey, and CeeDee Lamb. While the event is star-studded, its real importance lies in the fact that it will be played under the same rules planned for flag football’s Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

Brady has openly acknowledged the connection between the Riyadh tournament and a potential Olympic appearance. Speaking at a Fanatics event, he hinted that this competition could be the beginning of a larger journey, suggesting there is a “small chance” he could pursue an Olympic spot if things go well. His comments sparked debate over whether he was serious or simply teasing fans.

Former teammate Rob Gronkowski believes Brady is completely serious about his Olympic ambitions. Addressing concerns about Brady’s age, he will be nearly 50 in 2028, Gronkowski argued that flag football minimizes physical wear and tear. With little to no contact and less emphasis on physical punishment, Gronk says age matters far less than it does in traditional football.

Gronkowski also emphasized that Brady’s strengths are perfectly suited for the flag football format. He insists Brady’s arm strength, preparation, and football IQ remain elite, and that the fast-paced, spacing-heavy 5v5 game would favor Brady’s quick decision-making and ability to read defenses.

As a result, what initially seemed like a promotional exhibition has taken on much greater significance. With Brady’s own hints and Gronkowski’s strong endorsement, the Riyadh tournament now looks like a serious audition for an Olympic role, giving fans a compelling reason to follow the event as a possible prelude to the GOAT’s appearance at the 2028 Games.
