The New England Patriots extended their win streak to eight games with a 27-14 victory over the Jets, improving to 9-2 under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel. Despite not delivering their flashiest performance, the Patriots handled business on a short week, showing resilience and culture-building under Vrabel, who has already surpassed the previous two years’ win total.
Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson starred with three touchdowns, demonstrating both power and versatility, and joining Rob Gronkowski as the only Patriots rookies to score three times in a game. Quarterback Drake Maye continued his impressive campaign, passing for 281 yards and a touchdown while managing tough Jets coverages. Maye’s poise and efficiency earned more MVP chants from the home crowd.
The Patriots’ defense struggled early, allowing yet another opening-drive touchdown, but tightened up as the game progressed, limiting Jets RB Breece Hall and holding QB Justin Fields in check. On the defensive line, Christian Barmore notched his first sack of the season, while star DT Milton Williams exited early with an ankle injury.
Stefon Diggs recorded his third 100-yard game for New England, providing leadership and consistency to the receiving corps. Rookie left tackle Will Campbell had a standout game, shutting down Jets pass rusher Will McDonald IV. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels creatively rotated personnel to overcome injuries to key skill players.
Special teams also played a crucial role, neutralizing the Jets’ explosive return units and seeing rookie kicker Andy Borregales rebound after a missed field goal. Ultimately, the Patriots delivered a solid, workmanlike win, continuing their playoff push and establishing a winning identity under Vrabel, even when not at their best.
